Phaedra

When you think of classic Boston, R&B-pop-soul music,
you might think of
Donna Summer, New Kids on the Block, or even New Edition...
The other name you should get to know is
PHAEDRA
Filling a glaring gap in the current industry marketplace, PHAEDRA represents the culture of women -- inclusive of all of the sensitivities, insecurities, struggles, and triumphs that the everyday woman endures throughout her life, in a raw yet stunning manner.

Brought centerstage by Maurice Starr, the producer who discovered many other iconic, Boston-bred stars, PHAEDRA was off to the races from the start of her career, making a splash with the group Lady Soul with a RIAA-certified gold record on Whoopi Goldberg's Sister Act 2 soundtrack.
She was catapulted into world tours alongside superstars like
New Kids on the Block, Stevie Wonder, and Chaka Khan.

Anything to escape the young biracial songstress's life at home, where things were far from golden. After PHAEDRA's grandmother disowned her mother for having a black child, her mother isolated herself and spiraled into a life of drug addiction. Amidst a traumatic childhood that would've broken most young girls' spirits, PHAEDRA pressed forward.
PHAEDRA's ambition, sophisticated beauty, and four-octave vocal range locked her status as the pearl of the Boston music scene, where she is a staple in her community, having given back for years working at City Hall and in the court system. She has been awarded a key to the city, a NAACP Award, and a
Hall of Fame Award from Cambridge Rindge and Latin
(her high school alma mater – something she shares with colleagues Patrick Ewing, Matt Damon, and Ben Affleck).

Music was another way that PHAEDRA gave to her community.
PHAEDRA co-founded and hosted a unique platform for the discovery of new musical talent, Artist Live. This vibrant platform was the first stage graced by artists and songwriters who went on to create Top 10 hits (Joelle James, Karmin, Gwenn Bunn) and share stages with Latin icon, Romeo Santos (Karen Rodriguez).

It was fitting she debuted with her single, "HEART OF A WOMAN" in the 2018 Codeblack/Lionsgate film TRAFFIK -- a song that reverberates with strength and pain simultaneously, and depicts the unwavering, heroic nature of Paula Patton's character in the film so perfectly that it was chosen to be
the movie's first Video Single.

"The film’s urgent message about human trafficking, as well as the female strength shown throughout the film by Paula Patton's character, inspired me to record 'Heart of a Woman' -- to serve as a women's anthem that would make us feel strong, rather than feel weak as society often portrays us."
Women of all ages and backgrounds can enjoy, relate, and draw inspiration from "HEART OF A WOMAN".
(in fact, over 1 million viewed the music video in under 48 hours).

While in the studio recording her
“HEART OF A WOMAN” project,
the songstress has been keeping busy, performing at several key sporting events
Boston Red Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays in the World Series, ESPN Game Day for Boston College vs. Clemson, the annual Comm Ave Classic, political events like Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker’s Inaugural Interfaith Service, opening act for Boston-bred R&B icons New Edition (Bobby Brown + Bell Biv Devoe), and for the live televised WCVB-5’s “Holiday Lights” Annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Boston with her rendition of
“O Holy Night”, of which she recorded and released on her
"LOVE AT CHRISTMAS" EP,
